Together we cycle the 130k(m)

City Cycling

STADTRADELN Heiligenhaus – Cycling for a Good Climate celebrates its anniversary:

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Heiligenhaus cycling challenge, which started on 5 May. For 21 days, committed cyclists who live, work, belong to a club or go to school or college in Heiligenhaus will be on their bikes for more active climate protection. Last year, the motivated participants cycled an impressive 122,824 kilometres, and the declared goal for 2024 is to break the 130,000 kilometre mark.

Traditionally, the campaign’s press launch is held at a company in Heiligenhaus. This year was no exception, and our turn. We were delighted to welcome a delegation from the town of Heiligenhaus to the IMS Campus on 30 April 2024. Our motivated teams have been involved in the event since its inception – and are therefore also celebrating an anniversary.

Over the years, the number of colleagues in our company taking part has grown steadily and, as a team, they have been able to celebrate third place for three consecutive years since 2021. This year, the motivated IMS team is once again determined to make a further contribution to active climate protection.

“Sustainable business not out of obligation, but out of conviction!”

It is the IMS Group’s declared aim not only to make IMS products and customer relationships sustainable, but also to assume the social, environmental and economic responsibility of a global player with the same aspirations.

With this in mind, the company launched the project IMSocial in 2019. But IMSocial is more than a project. IMSocial is a conviction and represents the values of our corporate philosophy. Strongly linked to the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), IMSocial is a core mission that runs through all areas of the IMS Group.

The products of IMS Messsysteme GmbH also contribute to the conservation of resources:

quality deviations in the material to be inspected are detected by the measuring systems during the production and processing stages in the steel, non-ferrous metal and aluminium industries and can be corrected immediately during the process. This significantly reduces scrap rates and avoids the use of non-renewable energy and water for new production.

In other words, active climate protection that is already being practised at the grassroots level, i.e. within the company itself. IMS Messsysteme GmbH’s many commitments to environmental protection and resource conservation speak for themselves:

  • Certified to DIN EN ISO 50001 “Energy management systems”
  • Certified as a carbon neutral company since 2019
  • Recognised as an ÖKOPROFIT company in 2019
  • 1,373 photovoltaic modules on building roofs cover around 30% of the company’s internal electricity requirements
  • Since initial installation in 2011, 1,418,000 kg of CO2 has already been saved and approx. 4 million kWh of solar energy generated
  • Heat pumps in all new buildings
  • Employees have access to 7 charging stations on the company premises to charge their private electric vehicles.

The employees of the IMS Group are motivated by the internal ideas management system to actively contribute to the continuous improvement process for even more climate protection. With their suggestions, they are often the initiators for optimising the company’s carbon footprint. This is a foundation that needs to be protected and supported in the best possible way.

Health and safety in the IMS Group

A second focus of the IMS Group is to maintain the physical and mental health of all colleagues.

In this area in particular, the employees benefit from a wide range of measures to maintain their personal health:

  • IMS Messsysteme GmbH is certified according to DIN ISO 45001: “Occupational health and safety management systems”
  • We consistently pursue a zero-accident strategy
  • In cooperation with the Techniker Krankenkasse health insurance fund, the company has introduced a comprehensive company health management programme, which is constantly being developed further
  • Employees benefit from a wide range of initiatives, training and preventative measures such as flexitime
  • Medical check-ups, vaccinations, smoking cessation courses, ergonomic workplaces and much more.

It goes without saying that a healthy body and mind require a healthy balance of physical activity. There is plenty on offer for the active workforce, including an in-house gym with a variety of fitness classes and a sauna, an on-site football pitch and even an e-bike leasing scheme.

The 95 e-bikes leased through the scheme are evidence of the staff’s enthusiasm for cycling, which the IMS team is keen to demonstrate again this year as part of the Stadtradeln cycling challenge.

We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to make an active contribution to the goal of breaking the 130,000 km mark in this 10th year of the STADTRADELN Heiligenhaus – Cycling for a Good Climate campaign.
